Growing Against All Odds

Shalom, dear friends of ACTS!

The whole world is experiencing this lingering pandemic. Thank God for finally seeing the light of the epidemic in the United States. Please pray for the places that are still in dire straits, and pray for healing and mercy, recovery and renewal from the Lord!

ACTS Togo suspended classes for 7 months during the COVID-19 epidemic last year. However, the hand of God leads us to continue to grow and expand in all directions even during times like this. Let us share with you the story of how ACTS Togo is growing against all odds during this horrifying pandemic.

The Pandemic Couldn’t Stop the River of Love
Due to the COVID-19 attack, the health and economy of the Togolese people have been severely damaged. Last year, ACTS Togo was invited by the Togolese government to carry out epidemic prevention education through means of multimedia and social media. Due to the lack of clean water sources, ACTS Togo has also set up many mobile hand-washing stations in the Greater Lomé area to provide people with a place to wash their hands, which is of great help to the epidemic prevention work. In addition, the school also assisted the River of Life Clinic in Togo for the “Relief Package Program” to residents many times to ease the plight of the epidemic. As Matthew 5:16 said: “In this way, your light should shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and give glory to your Father in heaven.” The residents deeply felt the timely help and warm love during the adversity.

ACTS Is Growing Against All Odds
At the beginning of this year, ACTS was able to gradually reopen under the epidemic prevention restrictions stipulated by the government. The number of classrooms is reduced to half in accordance with the regulations to maintain a safe social distance, therefore, the relative expenses such as venue fees, water and electricity bills, and teacher salaries have also doubled. After the suspension of classes for more than half a year, it is difficult to predict the enrollment situation of reopening; this is quite a challenge. Unexpectedly, the number of students enrolled increased from 118 in the first quarter of last year to 180 in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 52%! Because of this, although the expenditures have doubled, our quarter-end number reported profit for the first time in our school history. This is the first time that ACTS Togo has achieved it in six years, Hallelujah! This phenomenon represents both the desire of young Togolese people to learn and the community’s trust in the school. It also means that ACTS has indeed touched the core of Togo’s needs!

 The Post-Pandemic New season
Due to the increase in students, the existing classrooms are no longer sufficient, and we are looking for venue solutions. Pray that God will continue to lead and bless, so that existing students have sufficient venues to use, and there is space to plan the future development of the school.

Seeing the growth of ACTS Togo, we believe that seeing the establishment of 100 schools and 100 clinics in Africa is not a dream, but a beautiful inheritance that comes from God that will come to pass, and many nations will be blessed by it!
