Last time, we reported that ACTS cooperated with Taiwan’s “STEP30” to drill a well in Watchidome, Togo, to help the villagers solve their water supply issue. Many friends expressed their appreciation and positive comments regarding this matter, especially about the Youtube video of the construction process. It seems that love really does make the world go ‘round.
During his mission trip to Togo in April, Pastor James also went to observe the situation regarding the well, as well as the impact it has had on the villagers. Standing tall surrounded by the muted colors of the village buildings, the well was painted with blue and white tones, echoing the clear sky and white clouds. You can feel the villagers’ gratification for the well. The villagers said that they are very happy to have this well. It has solved the long-standing water shortage issue, which in addition to the immediate effect of not having water, also prevents children from going to school in place of retrieving water. This new well allows them to not need to go back and forth for three to four hours every day to fetch water, letting them spend their time on other matters. Now, all they have to do is to go to the water tower next to the well and turn on the tap, releasing an endless stream of clean and cool water.
Because this is a deep well, it has very good water quality, which is much cleaner and even sweeter than a shallow well. A villager testified and shared that since they obtained clean water, many of the children’s diseases have been cured without medicine! This well is not only used by the Watchidome villagers but also used by the residents of the neighboring villages. It is estimated that this well supplies about 2,500 people nearby with water daily, which greatly improves their quality of life and is a big blessing to those people.
Thank the Lord for facilitating the cooperation between ACTS and STEP30 to drill a well for Watchidome and improve the lives of the villagers. ACTS will continue to work with STEP30 to drill wells in other villages to help people solve this very important water shortage issue. This will not only bring convenience to obtaining daily drinking water, but also bring great help to bodily health and crop planting, as well as the local business and economy, and improve the overall quality of life.
We sincerely invite you to continue to walk with ACTS in ministry with prayers and donations. Let us gather greater strength to help more Africans escape poverty, become self-sufficient, and also have the strength to be a blessing to others.
Let’s forward love, forward Africa!
