Shalom, dear friends of ACTS!
The Togo short-term mission, which took place from July 13 to July 24, was a resounding success, all thanks to God’s guidance and blessings. Our dedicated team members are returning with hearts brimming with gratitude and cherished memories, eagerly anticipating the next mission to Togo!
We’re thrilled to reveal a major focus of our short-term mission: medical outreach. This marks the debut of the medical mission service of River Of Life Medical Fellowship. Our diverse team included experts in internal medicine, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, dentistry, traditional Chinese medicine, and nursing. Alongside our partners from Chiayi Christian Hospital, we formed a team of 13 dedicated healthcare professionals. We’re sincerely grateful for this exceptional medical team!
During this mission, we held four medical service sessions in various villages, extending healthcare services to around 500 Togolese villagers. Dr. Jiao Yanyang, our dentist, thoughtfully shipped dental equipment from the Bay Area to Togo in advance, greatly benefiting our patients. Additionally, we established a private area for obstetrics and gynecology consultations. To our astonishment, traditional Chinese acupuncture and medicine were warmly embraced by the Togolese community!
To facilitate communication, we collaborated with a team of interpreters, including two individuals fluent in Chinese who had previously lived in China for several years. Their expertise played a vital role in bridging the communication gap between doctors and patients, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of our medical consultations.
During the medical services, our team also offered heartfelt prayers for the attending children, guiding them to learn about Jesus and praying for God’s blessings upon their hearts. May the Gospel seeds sown in these young hearts sprout rapidly and thrive; these children become the vessels for God’s abundant blessings in Togo!
In addition to providing medical services, the mission team also established health stations within the villages and conducted medical training for the staff at these stations. The aim was to offer basic healthcare services to the villagers in their daily lives. Currently, ACTS operates three health stations, with the hope of providing practical assistance to address the shortage of healthcare resources in these villages.
Medical outreach has consistently been a profoundly significant field in mission work. Through healthcare service, we convey the healing and love of Jesus to those we serve, often witnessing God’s miraculous work that brings about profound holistic physical, mental, and spiritual healing. We are grateful for the guidance of the Lord, and as we walk in alignment with His divine will, we are certain that remarkable things will be accomplished!
Lastly, we sincerely invite you to join our annual ACTS Vision Sharing Meeting. This year’s event will take place on December 9th at 5:30 PM at the Sunnyvale Community Center.
